The Loneliness of AOL - Bits - Technology - New York Times Blog

The Loneliness of AOL - Bits - Technology - New York Times Blog: "The only real news is that he is actively splitting off of what remains of AOL’s Internet access business, which serves those who can’t or simply don’t want to upgrade from dial up service to broadband. At year end AOL had 9.3 million paying subscribers, a loss of 3.8 million from a year earlier. This separation would allow Time Warner to sell it to some private equity fund that didn’t mind riding down the declining cash flow. Maybe such an investor could buy the ailing Earthlink as well."
